At Hovi, we’ve always believed that the best way to get ahead is to be fully immersed in the latest trends and technologies. As BETA Startup Partners, we were thrilled to attend Web Summit 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal, and exhibit on its last day.
WebSummit extends across the Portuguese capital of Lisbon. Gathering in open squares around the branding and signage abound, the WebSummit 2022 bracelets allowed fellow attendees to identify each other.
Arriving at the venue, the Hovers could see the chasmal, 5-pavilion sprawl extending from the entrance to the main stage housed within the arena. Food trucks lined the external areas, allowing attendees a place to catch lunch without having to leave the event. Moreover, the event continues to live up to its green values, making the event completely cashless.
The WebSummit 2022 stage was graced by many keynote speakers, from Jordan’s Queen Rania, who called upon more mindful use of technology as we become evermore reliant on it and noted its impact on mental health, to Binance’s Changpeng Zhao to talk about the future of crypto and his own investment in Twitter’s new age under Elon Musk. The pavilions also held several of their smaller stages that hosted several keynotes and firesides on topics ranging from crypto and the blockchain to AI & ML to the future of marketing.
Outside of the main venue, the Web Summit organizers planned several nightly events aptly dubbed “Night Summit.” The first was at Lisbon’s Hub Criativo do Beato on the riverfront; an area undergoing massive cultural regeneration. The second was held on Lisbon’s famous Pink Street: Rua Nova do Carvalho. The third was a big sendoff held at Pavilhão Carlos Lopes. This is where a lot of the networking happened, with attendees meeting and conversing over food, drink, and great music.
WebSummit is one of the most significant global tech events. Therefore, the Hovers couldn’t pass up the chance to meet many talented people pushing the future of AI, digital transformation, and data analysis. We had a great time networking with fellow entrepreneurs across industries and learning about what other companies are doing well—and where they could improve.
